The first step is to get organized.

If you haven’t already…

Figure out your framework. That’s the unique way you go about helping people solve a problem. Readers aren’t looking for information. They’re looking for a method – a process they can use to get what they want faster.

It should be unique and different, ideally something readers haven’t tried yet.

Come up with ideas for your book hook.

After that…

Writing your book quickly is just a matter of getting organized.

Here’s a method that works:

  1. Get a pack of 3x5 index cards.

  2. Write down 2-3 bullet points on what you want to say on each index card.

  3. Use a voice recorder or an app on your phone to record yourself talking through the bullets on each of the index cards.

  4. Have the recordings transcribed. Rev.com AI transcription works great.

  5. Now you have a rough draft of your book.

If you’re stuck, this method should get you started.

It’s not going to give you your final draft. You’ll have to read through what you’ve created. You’ll have to edit. You’ll have to organize a few things and make changes.

But, you’ll be organized.

If you need ideas on what to put on your index cards, follow this book outline:

Chapter 1 - Explain what life will look like after readers have used the framework in your book. Use as much proof as possible.

Chapter 2 - Explain who the book is for

Chapter 3 - Explain the problems, challenges, fears, and concerns readers likely have right now – before they’ve learned the framework you’re about to share.

Chapter 4 - Explain why your framework will help them solve the problems you discussed in chapter 3.

Chapter 5 - Explain why the things readers have tried already to solve the problems and challenges they face have not worked.

Chapter 6 - Explain your “core mechanism.” This is the part of your framework that makes everything work.

Chapter 7 - Detail your framework step by step.

Chapter 8 - Explain the components of your framework.

Chapter 9—Provide your reader with clear instructions on how to take the first step. Help them take action and get results from reading the book.

Chapter 10 - Share precisely what’s needed to implement the rest of your framework.

Chapter 11 - Explain how to create everything else that’s needed quickly.

Conclusion - Summarize and explain to the reader how they can ge your help implementing your framework.
