To qualify for a BUD/s Contract a candidate must successfully complete the Navy SEAL PST or Physical Standards Test. This test consists of 5 movements that are designed to test the athlete's overall fitness ability.

Here's the test:

500 yard Swim timed

1.5 Mile Run timed

50 Pushups in 2 minutes

50 Sit-ups in 2 minutes

10 Pull-ups in 2 minutes

If you are not going for SEAL contract this test is still a great Baseline Fitness Test that's fun to complete and gives you an excellent idea where you stand. It's important to only measure against yourself since this is a Baseline test. Don't worry what the other athletes score is.

Here's a modified version of this test we suggest if you don't have a pool. Note we removed the Curl Ups. The Navy is removing them as well in a year or so. Squats are a much better measure of fitness vs a curl up.

2 Minutes of Burpees

1 Mile Run

Max Pushups in 2 minutes

Max Squats in minutes

Max Pull-ups in 2 minutes (sub in Ring Rows if you have 0 Pull Ups)

Rest at least 5 minutes between the burpees and the run. 2 minutes between the other movements.

Before you complete a training cycle. Take this test and record your score in your journal. Your score is total reps of each movement and your run time.

After you complete a training cycle, give yourself 2 rest days and then complete the test and compare your scores.

Remember fueling is the most important aspect, need to fix your diet for optimum performance?
